Making Memories With Grandchildren

Aren't grandchildren the reason to live as long as we do? Do you make your time special with them and make memories? When my granddaughter was born, I told my daughter that I wanted to keep her one night a week so they could have date night. Of course, it was really for my benefit but also helped them have a free night. This night each week became so special to me. I would start thinking throughout the week what special things we could do. We would do things at our house that she was not allowed to do at hers; i.e, painting, using permanent markers, etc. We would bake and make a complete mess in the kitchen.

When she left to go back home the next day and I would pick everything back up and get things in order, I would think of the fun we had. I know she had fun because her Mom would call me and tell me all that she would say. I am hoping these memories will last a lifetime with her. If not what we did, to know she was special and that our time together was special to me. I want her to know she is loved. These years pass by so quickly and I know the time is coming when she would rather be with her friends, etc. I will relish in the memories that we made and hope that love will stay with her forever even after I am gone. I am so blessed to have spent these early years with her.
